I built this site because I got bored of writing to myself. I've always had a lot to say, but storing it in a physical journal felt like burying it in the backyard.
The Grid Girl Gazette isn't a professional news outlet or a serious forensic blog. It's just a public version of my notebook. It's a place to store my rants, my music audits, and my F1 thoughts so they don't just sit in a Google Doc gathering digital dust.
I'm currently a Junior in high school, and ohhh my god school essays are a struggle. I found that I can write 2,000+ words about Max Verstappen or Britpop easily, but I struggle with 500 words for an English assignment.
This site is my practice ground. By forcing myself to publish my thoughts publicly, I'm learning how to structure an argument and find my own voice. It's conversational, it's probably a bit rambly, and I'm definitely still figuring out my vocabulary...
Most of everything here is static. No fancy animations, no tracking, no bloat. I use a 3-column grid because it makes my writing feel more permanent, like it's actually been printed.
(It's also because I don't know how to code that stuff...)
The Morgue is where the long stuff lives. If an essay is too long for a SpaceHey blog or a casual rant, it ends up here. It's basically a searchable filing cabinet for my brain's deep dives.
